ANTONISHA BUSBY, LCSW, MEd (SHE/HER)
Director of Therapeutic Interventions
Hi, my name is Antonisha! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently pursuing my doctoral degree in Sexuality Studies. I am a Queer therapist holding a BSW and MSW from Delaware State University. I have been in the mental health field for approximately 9 years and have been honored to have the opportunity to serve my community.
My specialties are Relationship & Sex Therapy, LGBTQIA+, Gender Affirming Care, Teens & Adolescents, Sexual Abuse, Trauma & PTSD, Foster Care, Anxiety & Depression, Racial/ Cultural/ Social Justice, Family Therapy and more!
Education work experience
After noticing the generational trauma within my own family and dealing with abuse from an early age, I decided to become a therapist to break the cycle and hopefully be the support I wish I had as a child. Outside of my profession, I am a full-time cat mom of two who enjoys fishing, beach trips, poetry, arts & crafts, scary movies, and any opportunity to explore the outdoors. My main goal is to create a compassionate, judgment free zone to support that healing process!
Throughout my professional career as an educator, I’ve become increasingly aware that there are vital conversations that need to happen between kids and their trusted adults. I believe that most families want to give their children better support around sexuality and relationships than they received themselves, and it can be daunting knowing where to start. Similarly, I know that most educators are invested in creating the safest space possible for their students, but face many challenges in making that safe space a reality, especially in today’s political climate.
SONJA VITOW, MFA, M.Ed (SHE/THEY)
Director of Educational Consultation
I am a progressive human sexuality educator currently pursuing my PhD at the Widener University Center for Human Sexuality Studies. I have been an educator in middle and high schools for over a decade, and aim to empower children, parents, and other educators through consent and LGBTQIA+ education. I strive to spread knowledge about comprehensive consent-based practice; how to develop and maintain healthy relationships; and community-centering strategies, such as compassionate and direct communication. All of my work is done through an intersectional, social-justice driven lens that prioritizes creating an honest, challenging, inclusive space for learning. I am passionate about making the world safer for LGBTQIA+ children, starting with their homes, schools, and communities.
I received a BA in French Language and Literature from the George Washington University in 2009, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College in 2013. In May of 2023 I was awarded a Master in Education from Widener University in Human Sexuality. I am a DELE B2-certified fluent Spanish speaker, a DELF B2-certified fluent French speaker, and hold a certificate in medical interpretation (Spanish/English). In addition to my work as an educator, my short fiction and poetry can be found at sonjavitow.com.
JESS WRIGHT, LCSW (SHE/HER)
I’m an educator, licensed therapist, and mental health advocate. I have a BA in Psychology and Master of Social Work, and am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Human Sexuality from Widener University. My professional experience includes working in residential treatment with juvenile sex offenders, supportive housing for teenagers, and providing therapy to children, adults, and families in a variety of settings.
My teaching experience includes being a Certified Youth Mental Health First Aid instructor, and I have trained groups on suicide prevention and how to respond during a mental health concern or crisis. Additionally, while living in Phoenix, Arizona, I was an adjunct professor, and my course focused on the importance of advocacy and activism in the community.
Through professional and personal experiences, I recognized the need for further sexuality education, especially between children and their parents/caregivers. My mission as an educator is to create a safe and inclusive environment for all, in addition to providing skills that can be applied and knowledge that can help deepen self-awareness. I am supportive, validating, and empowering. I encourage my students to ask questions, and I aim to be a sounding board and guide to aid my students in learning more about their bodies, their relationships, and themselves. In my free time, I enjoy playing Animal Crossing, watching baking shows, listening to podcasts, and spending time with my two pets and partner.
